TRANSPORTATION:
Jamaica is not a large island, and it's very easy to get around. Most visitors will arrive at Montego Bay International Airport via charter and scheduled flights. Cruise ships do dock at the island, often a midway point for Caribbean cruising. Although many tourists opt to get around to restaurants and nightclubs by taxi, you will find that Jamaica's taxi system is efficient, easy to use and quite affordable. If you'd like to explore negril, you can rent a scooter, or a motorcycle (even a Harley!) Car rentals are available,but Jamaica's terrain can be rugged in remote areas. SHOPPING:
The stores of Jamaica are stocked with well-priced imported merchandise. Jamaica is a "Shopper's Paradise," with perfume, liquor, linens, jewelry, watches, designer fashions, crystal and china among the luxury items available at excellent prices. Many stores also feature local handicrafts. Most stores and boutiques are located all along negril beach , but excellent shops can also be found at the larger hotels and at the airport. Stores on the main streets are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, although some are closed for lunch between noon and 2 p.m. Shops in the malls and shopping centers are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some stores are open on Sundays and holidays when cruise ships are in port.
